It's been a while but the fishing has finally began to improve. The stripers are biting and the BIG Blue Catfish are starting to move around to feed.
November 22, I caught over 20 fish and 2 were in the trophy category (24 lb and a 35 lb )
Perfect conditions were:
Cold water, in the low 60's
Cloud cover
Calm
Latter half of the moon
Front coming in a couple days
Got to the area 2 hours before light, although evening would be good to if the wind doesn't kick up
Double anchor in 20 feet or less near cove, rock or other cover, no weights, single hook, large chunks of gizzard shad, cast a good distance from boat and put the clickers on.

June and July Fishing for Lake Buchanan
Obviously the weather is warming up and its starting to cool down the fishing. We are still catching striper on a regular basis but it's going to slow way down as the hot weather continues.
The catfish have been excellent the past two months. Just anchor in 50 to 60 feet of water and put your baits down about 35 to 40 feet. Use small baits and hooks to catch the most blues and channels.
The stripers are caught the same way only use 4-8 inch shad and put them down about 30 to 38 feet in the same water. The catfish will kill or steal the bait quite often but the striper will get some of them.
The picture is one morning's catch. We went in because we ran out of bait by 10 a.m.

Lake Buchanan Catfish Update for April
It's at the end of April 2008 and the Big Catfish are still consistent. They should be close to their spawn. We have been catching numerous 20, 30 and 40 lb fish with the 5 to 10 fish getting more and more numerous.
The numbers would go up if I were to use smaller baits or start using shrimp, worms or liver. I am sure there are several other options besides those but I am not after the small ones.
Unless weather creates a problem, TPW has requested my services to make a program for their weekly program for PBS. We are scheduled for this coming week to go catfishing. Hopefully the weather and the fish cooperate. I will post info on all details when it happens and how it went.
By the way, the news article about the record flathead catfish a customer caught was on the Jay Leno Tonight Show, April 14!!!!!!

Lake Buchanan Catfish
I have been taking Bobby and Destinee Love fishing for several years now. We have been trying our best to catch a Blue Catfish over 30 lbs for that time and finally on March 08, 2008....Destinee caught this new Lake Buchanan rod/reel record....65 lbs
Just a week later Bobby caught the new Lake Buchanan rod/reel record Yellow Catfish that weighed 17 lbs
So far this winter/spring my customers have caught over 20 trophy catfish (anything over 20 pounds)
Look at my website at centraltexasfishing.com or email me at centraltexasfishing@gmial.com or centraltexasfishing@yahoo.com for more info on my guide service and look at some more pictures.
